The museum consists of sculptures from Henry Moore. Those art works are placed into a wonderful park landscape.

But Louisiana Museum of Modern Art has much more to offer. It delights with an interaction between light and view, as well as the nullification of inside and outside.

Loads of masterworks from artists like Victor Vasarely, Alberto Giacometti, Andy Warhol, Pablo Picasso, and many others are exhibited. The visitor can expect a walk in a very special atmosphere through modern art.

Visitors can also see the gramophone of the successful author, which was a gift during her time in Africa from 1914 to 1931. Her life in Africa was picturized in the famous movie “Out of Africa”. The museum is an interesting completion to the movie and her life in Africa.

Karen Blixen lived from 1885 to 1962.

Inside the museum is an “art axis” with a lenght of 150 metres, which leads to different exhibition rooms and galleries.

Arken Museum of Modern Art shows only modern and contemporaneous works of Danish and other Scandinavian artists.

There is also a nice coffee houses included in the building, which offers a wonderful view on the sea and the dunes.

All possible details of Copenhagens history from kings, architects, on to streets, renewals, and city models, are presented and explained.

A historical street with a cobblestone pavement, a park bench from 1885, tramway stop from 1904, and a telephone box from 1935, displace its vititors to the Copenhagen of the past.

The first art works came from the Royal art chamber in 1884. Castle Christiansborg was burning, and the Royal collection of paintings had to find a new shelter. This was the birth of Statens Museum for Kunst.

The museum was extended in 1998. Visitors can see and admire a lot of works from Danish artists. Especially the period between 1816 and 1858 is strongly represented.

But there are also works from French, Italian, and Duch artists. Those can be found in the older part of the museum, and date from the Royal collection.

His passion was the art. The invested most of his money in works of art. In 1902 he decided to give the whole collection to his nation. This collection compromises all important works of Danish artists from the 19th and early 20th century: Eckersberg, Christen Kobke, Kristian Zahrtman, Vilhelm Hammershoj, Johan Thomas Lundbye, and much more.

The Hirschsprung collection can be seen in Stockholmsgade 20, in the district of Fredriksstaden.

Bertel Thorvaldsen showed his thankfulness, and gave his whole art collection, as well as all of his immense fortune, to his beloved home town. The last wish of creating a museum with his inheritance, was not a problem for Copenhagen. 4 years after Thorvaldsens death, the Thorvaldsens Museum opened its gates.

The museum shows many sculptures. Some are originals, some replicas, others only drafts. The inner yard of the museum is the last resting place of the Danish sculptor.

But there are newer sculptures as well. NY Carlsberg Glyptotek also accommodates exhibits from the Danish and the French history. These include wonderful paintings from many different famous artists.

The museum was founded by the successful beer brewer Carl Jacobsen and his wife Ottilia. The first plan to build such an institution was created in 1892. The whole project was financed by profits of the beer brewery.

One of the architectonic attracions of NY Carlsberg Glyptotek is a huge glass dome, which combinates the new part of the museum with the old part. The hall under the glass dome is filled and decorated with palms and other exotic plants.

Coins and medals from the vikings, as well from the ancient world, can be seen in the Royal cabinet of the museum.

Many different exhibits from different cultures are located in the ethnological part. Especially African, Asian, and cultural artifacts from Greenland are overrepresented there.

The place is known as the meeting point for all national and international designers, and the location for many exhibitions about the Danish design history.
