The construction works for the town hall of Copenhagen were finished in 1903. Martin Nyrop, who was the architect, travelled to the Italian town of Siena to collect some ideas for his project. It seems this journey was a true success. The town hall of Copenhagen was built in the Italian renaissance style.

The golden sculpture above the main entrance is the imitation of Copenhagens founder Bishop Absalon, who lived from 1128 to 1201.
Another interesting sight of the building is the world clock. A clock with twelve running gears, which shows the times of the whole world.
The tower of the town hall amounts 106 metres, has 300 steps, and offers a wonderful view over the whole city.
