Christiansborg Slot is a castle in Copenhagens city centre, and the harbourage of the Danish parliament. Christiansborg had many functions since its erection. At first it served as fortress, later as a castle, and today as parliament.
The construction works for the impressive building were finished in 1167. In 1731 the fortress was totally removed, and King Christian VI gave the order to build a nice and new castle. Some years before the new construction, the fortress most labeled by an English diplomat as “the most ugliest residence for a king in the whole world.”
