Botanisk Have – Botanic Garden Copenhagen

Category: Sights Copenhagen – admin – 8:13 am

At the beginning there were just some herbal beds weeded by a professor from the university. In 1871 the city of Copenhagen decided to remove those beds, and create a huge and impressive botanic garden.

At first the constructors were searching for new ideas in England and Belgium. These countries were leading in the art of creating botanic gardens in those times.

The most impressive sight of Botanisk Have is the 4.000 m2 including palm house. A lot of Tropic plants can be seen there.

Copenhagens botanic garden comprises more than 20.0000 different types of flowers. There are also plants from Greenland and the Faroe Islands. Botanisk Have is located in the district of Fredriksstaden.
